Hot Dipped Galvanised
Galvanised Chemical Composition
Galvanised products share an identical chemical composition due to the very tight percentages in manufacturing.
- Carbon is added to ensure that the material maintains it’s strength and hardness.
- Silicon is added as a deoxidizer during processing and has a minor impact on hardness.
- Manganese is added as it removes oxygen and sulphur during processing and reduces the brittleness.
- Phosphorous is added both to prevent stickiness during production but also strengthens low-carbon steel.
- Sulphur is added as it increases the surface quality of the steel, but is often limited to tiny amounts as an excess of sulphur can affect weldability and cause brittleness.
